Home Decorating With Flowers in an Arid Environment

Home Decorating With Flowers in an Arid Environment

By Misha Vasser

No matter where you live, incorporating a little of your surroundings into your home décor is a wonderful idea. Arid climates provide a lot of unique and beautiful decorating elements. Some greenery you can add to your decor include bear grass, cacti, and grass horsetails. Be creative with your desert décor by adding rock arrangements or sand. Most of these combinations will have a light red or orange feel. If you have children in your home it would be a good idea to get a silk or artificial cactus instead of a real one, due to the needles. They are not extremely dangerous, but it would not be a fun afternoon picking out the needles after a child has pulled a cactus plant on top of himself or herself.

The Elegant Maple Tree

One of the most beloved trees is the breathtaking maple tree. Maple trees are most noted for their maple leaf, which can be found on the Canadian flag. These distinguished maple leaves have three main points with several smaller points jutting from their edges. To duplicate this in a silk maple tree is something of a craft miracle. Also, the amount of leafage on silk maple trees is much greater than with most other tree types. With so many leaves, the tree appears very verdant and fertile, but keep in mind that silk trees do need a periodic cleaning. Since cleaning the leaves of the silk tree realistically usually only happens once or twice a year, one should not judge this to be too much of a bad thing.

Getting in Tune with your Interior Design Self

Interior design can be just as addicting as any other hobby. If you are starting to feel an interest in redecorating your home, there are a few easy tips you can follow to become familiar with your own favorite looks. A good beginner's step to learning the art of interior design is to find out more about the subject. There are books, magazines, books on tape, forums, and blogs on this topic, just to name a few sources of information. You would be surprised at how many simple, quick, and easy interior design tips you can apply to make your house look twice as good. Also, look at some great magazines like Home and Design or Better Homes & Gardens. It will not take you long to narrow in on your likes and dislikes in the home decor world. Once you have accrued this knowledge, it is time to undertake your first project. As you begin, the experiences you gain are more significant than the creation you come up with.
